Session Info
Booking your appointment
Be sure to book your session well in advance (at least 4 weeks). Please note that I do not book sessions on Sundays or Mondays. Saturdays tend to fill up very quickly, so keep this in mind if you require a weekend session.
Newborns
It is never too early to book a newborn session. Please contact me before your baby is born to book a newborn session. As babies tend to follow their own schedule, we can set a tentative date based on your due date.
I prefer to photograph newborns when they are 6 or 7 days old. After this time period, it is much harder to get the "newborn poses" that are shown in the newborn gallery. Older newborns will not curl up as easily and tend to sleep less.
Newborn sessions can sometimes last up to 3 hours.
If you would like to feed your baby after you arrive but before we begin, feel free to do so. A full baby is a happy, sleepy baby, and thus making him/her an easier baby to photograph!
Keep in mind that no matter how hard we try, your baby may not want to settle in and sleep. But don’t worry, we will get photos that you will cherish forever.
Infants
After the initial newborn phase, the best time to bring your baby in for photographs is between the ages of 6-9 months. At this age they are generally happy to be on their tummies and can also sit up on their own, but cannot yet crawl away.
Maternity
Maternity sessions take about an hour. The best time to have maternity photos taken is in your last trimester while you can still move around comfortably. Most women prefer to come in for their maternity photos when they are 32-34 weeks pregnant.
Families
For all family sessions (other than newborns), I strongly recommend that they be done outdoors. Family sessions that take place in the studio tend to be more forced and posed and much less casual.
Please remember that one sure fire way to keep us from getting the candid photos you want is to tell your children to act candid. Let me worry about getting everyone loosened up and ready. Candid will come when everything is ready.
Note: Parents, please remember that my studio is a place of work. My equipment is expensive and very important to my job. With that in mind I ask that you keep an eye on your children and help to ensure that they are well behaved and out of harms way during our sessions. Thank you.
Proofs
A proof gallery containing your images will be available approximately 3-4 weeks after your session. Prints are usually ready about 2 weeks from the date that I receive your order.
Please note that at this time I do not do event photography.
